Bursary Description


Western Cape Dept of Infrastructure invites students to apply for Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Programme 2024 academic year.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 31 August 2024

Bursary Coverage:

  • Covers tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, study materials, support programs, accommodation/meals, or transport costs.
  • Provides support services programs, learning opportunities (internships), and employment opportunities for graduates.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the Transport, Engineering and Built Environment sector (Degree or Diploma), including the following fields:

  • Architecture
  • Civil Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy current)
  • Geomatics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Property Studies
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Town/ City and Regional Planning
  • Transport Economics/Studies

Obligations & Service Contract:


  • Bursary recipients may be required to attend workshops, events, meetings, experiential training, and outreach programs during weekends.
  • Upon graduation, recipients employed by the Department of Infrastructure will undergo a Professional Development Training Programme for professional registration.

Eligibility Criteria:


  • South African citizenship required.
  • Must be in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Must be studying full-time towards a Degree or Diploma in specified fields in 2025.
  • Study or have applied to study at specific universities in the Western Cape.
  • Preference given to financially disadvantaged, female, disabled, and Western Cape students.
