Scholarship Description:
University of Otago International Excellence Scholarships 2024 in New Zealand is open for International Students . The scholarship allows Masters, Postgraduate level programm(s) in the field of Business, Science, Humanities taught at University of Otago . The deadline of the scholarship is not announced yet.

University of Otago International Excellence Scholarships 2024 in New Zealand is available to undertake Masters, Postgraduate level programs at University of Otago.
Available Subjects:
Following subject are available to study under this scholarship program.
- Business
- Science
- Humanities
Business, Humanities and Science
Students must be applying to study a programme in one of the following eligible programme categories:
Masters (coursework) degrees
Excluding the Master of Business Administration (MBA)- Masters (research) degrees
- Postgraduate diplomas
Excluding the Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Health (PGDipHeal) - Honours degrees
Offshore students
For students outside of New Zealand, the programme must also be available via:

Eligibility Criteria:
Who Can Apply for This Scholarship?
This scholarship is open to international students who meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Not be a citizen, permanent resident, or resident visa holder of New Zealand or Australia.
- Academic Qualifications: Have met the entry requirements for the specific program you’re applying to.
- Scholarship Level: Meet the award level requirements for this particular scholarship (e.g., undergraduate, postgraduate).
- Tuition Status: Be subject to paying international tuition fees.
- Study Mode: Be planning to start full-time studies in the program during 2023.
Part-Time Students Welcome (with adjustments):
This scholarship may also be available to part-time students who meet all other eligibility criteria. However, the scholarship amount will be adjusted proportionally based on the percentage of your studies (pro-rata basis). If you’re a part-time applicant currently residing in New Zealand, it’s highly recommended to contact Immigration New Zealand to ensure your chosen study option aligns with your visa requirements.

Application Procedure:
How are Scholarship Recipients Selected?
The University of Otago has the final say in choosing scholarship recipients. They will assess your application for the program you’re applying to, and if successful, you’ll be notified of the scholarship award along with your offer of admission.
Important Conditions to Remember:
- Scholarship Use: This scholarship can only be used to reduce your tuition fees.
- Eligibility:
- You must have an offer for full-time study in a qualifying postgraduate program.
- International students currently studying at the University of Otago, nearing completion of their degrees, are also eligible.
- Deferrals and Extensions: Deferring the scholarship is usually not allowed. The scholarship applies only to your first year of study and cannot be awarded twice, even if you enroll in another eligible program.
- Transcript Note: This scholarship won’t be reflected on your academic transcript.
- Payment Schedule: If you start your studies in semester 2 and plan to continue full-time in semester 1 of the following year, you’ll typically receive half the scholarship amount initially and the remaining half when you resume studies in semester 1.

Can this Scholarship be Combined with Others?
- This scholarship cannot be combined with a University of Otago Coursework Master’s Scholarship or Master’s Research Scholarship.
- It may be possible to combine it with other scholarships, but ensure those scholarships allow it. You’re responsible for informing the University of Otago if you receive other scholarships.
Who is Not Eligible?
- Students sponsored by their home government or the New Zealand government.
Maintaining Your Scholarship:
- To keep the scholarship, you must be enrolled and actively studying the program stated in your offer letter.
- If you can’t start by the enrollment date, the scholarship becomes invalid. If your enrollment is moved, you’ll be re-evaluated for eligibility.
- As a scholarship recipient, you may be asked to represent the University and the scholarship in appropriate ways.
Termination of Scholarship:
- The University of Otago can suspend, terminate, or require partial repayment of the scholarship if:
- You are not enrolled and studying full-time in a full-year program.
- You bring the University or the scholarship into disrepute.
- If you withdraw or your enrollment is terminated for any reason, your scholarship funding will be canceled. The University may also require partial or full repayment of any scholarship funds already received.
Note: Australian citizens, permanent residents, and resident visa holders residing outside of New Zealand at the time of study may be eligible for this scholarship as they would be subject to international tuition fees.
