Bursary Details
The MiS offers bursaries are for full-time studies towards a degree or diploma in the transport, engineering and infrastructure disciplines. This is part of the department’s strategy to mitigate the skills scarcity in the infrastructure sector.
The department has partnered with leading Higher Education Learning Institutions such as University of Stellenbosch, the University of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula of University Technology for this programme.
It partnered with higher education institutions (HEI), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the relevant professional bodies to develop professionals in engineering and the built environment fields by offering bursaries to study towards a degree or higher diploma in the following disciplines:
- Property studies
- Geomatics
- Transport economics
- Transportation engineering
- Mechatronics
- Electrical and/or electronic engineering
- Civil engineering
- Construction management
- Mechanical engineering
- Quantity surveying
- Town/City and regional planning
- Architecture, etc.
Candidate Requirements
- A South African citizen
- Students accepted or intending to study at a Higher Education Institution in the Western Cape
- Preference will be given, but not limited to:
- Persons with disabilities
- the financially disadvantaged
- female learners
- applicants from the Western Cape
