The Montford Golden Oldies Senior Citizens Club ushered in the new year with optimism, enthusiasm, and unity, gathering for a delightful meet and greet brunch at Timberlake Spur in Chatsworth, recently.

The exuberant and vibrant seniors came along with empty tummies and hearts full of excitement as they met at the restaurant, rekindling special bonds, chatting heartily about their well-deserved break, and of course, discussing what they hope 2025 has in store for them as a close family.

The dynamic chairwoman of the Montford Golden Oldies Senior Citizens Club, Molly Govender, smiled brightly as she welcomed members to the gathering, encouraging them to enjoy every minute of the special day, planned entirely for them.

“Every member of our group is very near and dear to my heart. We are a club that has been founded on the principles of upliftment, cheer, and togetherness. We don’t even consider ourselves friends – we are a family. Since inception, we have always strived to be a club with a difference, offering the perfect platform for our golden seniors to come through and just be themselves without the fear of being judged. We want our members to feel loved always and embrace their golden years with open arms. Our meet and greet brunch was the ideal way to officially welcome 2025 and we are excited to witness what this new chapter holds for us. Our meet and greet brunch was filled with beautiful and treasured moments, fantastic company, an abundance of cheer and love, and mouth-watering meals,” she said.

Govender used this opportunity to also encourage new members to join the group. “A golden experience awaits you,” she enthused, adding that members are treated to empowering meetings, wonderful outings and adventures throughout the year, and most importantly, a fun-filled haven for them to enjoy life to the fullest.

The club also officially hosted its first meeting for 2025, last week, and Govender was pleased to have inducted a few new faces to their group too.

“We meet every Thursday at the Montford Community Hall, which we call our home away from home. We would love to meet you and welcome you into our golden family! New members are always welcome,” she concluded.
