Who Can Apply?

Westcol TVET College is looking for unemployed, qualifying former students who are passionate about education and meet the following criteria. If you tick these boxes, you’re on the right track!

Academic Requirements:

To be eligible, you’ll need to have achieved strong results in your previous studies:

Report 191 Engineering (REF: TUT/RFT/20/03/2025)

  • Achieved an average of 65% in 2x N3 subjects (all subjects).
  • Achieved an average of 65% in 1x N4 Engineering Science & Mechanotechnics.
  • Achieved an average of 50% in 1x N5 Fluid Mechanics & Strength of Materials.
  • Achieved an average of 50% in 1x N6 Fluid Mechanics & Strength of Materials.

National Certificate Vocational (NCV) (REF: TUT/RFT/20/03/2025)

  • You must have passed all relevant NCV subjects with an overall 65% average.
  • Fundamentals: Strong passes in Mathematics (x2 positions), Mathematical Literacy (x1 position), and English FAL (x1 position).
  • Specific Vocational Subjects: Experience in Engineering Related Design (x1 position), Welding (x1 position), Automotive (x1 position), ERD (x1 position).
  • Office Administration: Expertise in Office Data Processing (x2 positions).

Report 191 Business Studies (REF: TUT/RFT/20/03/2025, TUTKC/20/03/2025, TUT/CVILLE20/03/2025)

  • You need to have passed all subjects with an impressive 70% average.
  • Strong background in Computer Practice or Information Processing at N4 (3x positions), N5 (3x positions), and N6 (3x positions) levels.

Skills You’ll Need:

Beyond your academic prowess, Westcol is looking for tutors who can effectively connect with students:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • A great team player with facilitation skills.
  • Good computer literacy relevant to the subject you’ll be tutoring.

What Does It Cover?

This isn’t a traditional bursary for tuition, but a paid tutoring opportunity that offers you financial compensation while you help others! You’ll receive a competitive stipend of R150 per session, and each session is 1 hour. This means you get paid for every hour you spend empowering your fellow students!

Beyond the financial benefit, this role covers a range of exciting responsibilities:

  • Assisting students with assignments, projects, ISATs, tests, and research.
  • Explaining tricky key concepts and demonstrating academic best practices.
  • Working closely and collaboratively with subject lecturers and mentor lecturers.
  • Preparing and maintaining essential tutoring files and student attendance registers.
  • Monitoring student progress and applying effective intervention strategies when needed.
  • Providing constructive feedback to both lecturers and students.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of all student records.
