{"prompt":"A dynamic wide shot inside a grand, ancient Namekian-Viking Hall of Scribes and Celestial Observation. The hall features towering, carved stone pillars adorned with intricate runic inscriptions and cosmic patterns, reaching up to high-arched ceilings. Floor-to-ceiling shelves are packed with glowing scrolls, illuminated ancient texts, and advanced, mystical research instruments that hum with a soft energy. Through massive, ornate windows or a grand skylight, a vibrant, star-filled Namekian sky or a celestial phenomenon is visible, casting ethereal light into the chamber. In the foreground, a Namekian character, representing a postgraduate Master's or Doctoral student, stands confidently. This Namekian has green skin, a muscular build, sharp facial features, and pointed ears, wearing a Viking-style fur cloak over intricate leather armor with metallic belts, and a horned helmet. They hold aloft a shimmering, glowing orb or crystal, symbolizing a successful research project or the empowering financial boost of the bursary, their expression one of profound determination and hopeful focus. Around them, other Namekian scholars and researchers, similarly green-skinned, muscular, with sharp features and pointed ears, and dressed in various Viking-style fur cloaks, leather armor, and helmets, are actively engaged in academic pursuits. Some intently study ancient, glowing scrolls and intricate star maps, their pointed ears twitching in concentration, while others adjust celestial instruments emitting soft, pulsating green light. An elder, wise-looking Namekian, representing a mentor or supervisor, gestures towards an open, glowing tome, guiding a younger, eager Namekian through complex theories. The overall mood is epic, mystical, scholarly, and filled with a sense of collaborative discovery and academic achievement.Cinematic lighting bathes the scene: soft, glowing green light emanates from the enchanted scrolls and research devices, intermingling with warm, flickering torchlight that casts dramatic, dancing shadows on the ancient stone walls. Streaks of cold moonlight and starlight penetrate from above, highlighting dust motes dancing gracefully in the air. The color tones are rich and deep, combining emerald greens, earthy browns, metallic silvers, and celestial blues, creating a visually striking and immersive environment. It’s all about empowering you to focus on your groundbreaking research without the extra financial stress!

Who Can Apply?

So, who gets to grab this fantastic opportunity? Here’s a quick rundown:

Who CANNOT Apply? Just so we’re clear, this bursary is NOT for UNISA permanent staff, first-year Master’s or Doctoral students, Graduate School of Business Leadership students (MBA, MBL), students in special study programmes (like certificates or PGCE), or those who already hold a postgraduate degree at the same or higher NQF level. Also, if you’ve already submitted your thesis/dissertation for examination, this bursary isn’t for you.

What Does It Cover?

This bursary isn’t just about tuition – it’s about making sure you have what you need for your research journey! It covers both your tuition fees and provides a research allowance. Check out the annual research allowances:

Qualification Research Allowance Years of Funding
Master’s by research R55,000 3 years
Master’s by coursework R25,000 3 years
Doctoral by research R80,000 4 years
Doctoral experimental research R120,000 4 years

A few extra perks and important notes: If you’re a second-year student without ethical clearance, you might get a once-off laptop allowance from your research funds. The rest of your research allowance becomes available once you submit a confirmed ethical clearance certificate by 31 January each year. Just remember, the bursary won’t cover failed/repeating modules, additional NQF level 9/10 qualifications, or any historic debt. UNISA also prioritises South African students, with 80% of funds going to them and 20% to international students.

How to Apply?

Important Student Responsibilities: If you’re awarded the bursary, you’ll need to submit a signed bursary contract.
