Who Can Apply?

The Archivi.ng Fellowship is looking for ambitious and committed individuals who are:

  • Nigerian, whether you’re living at home or in the diaspora.
  • Deeply curious about Nigerian history and can prove your ability to produce rigorous research, compelling narratives, or interactive tools.
  • Dedicated to creating excellent, useful, and publicly accessible work.
  • Comfortable working independently but also open to collaboration.
  • Digitally-savvy and proficient with online collaboration tools like Notion and Slack.

Your project needs to be rooted in archival materials (think newspapers, magazines, audiovisuals, etc.), aim to help people understand patterns and cycles in Nigerian life, and be completable within the six-month fellowship period. Projects that have already started are welcome!

Fellowship Tracks:

  • Storytelling: For those who can craft captivating narratives, in any format, that link the past to the present.
  • Research: For individuals who can produce thorough analysis and insights, offering new perspectives on Nigeria.
  • Technology: For innovators building tools and coding solutions that transform archives into accessible public context, like timelines or interactive experiences.

What Does It Cover?

This bursary is designed to fully support your journey:

  • A generous ₦1 million monthly stipend for six months (January – June 2026).
  • At least ₦1 million in project support, disbursed throughout the fellowship period.
  • Exclusive access to Archivi.ng’s extensive archives and specialised tools.
  • Opportunity for publishing, exhibition, or technical integration of your final project.
