Who Can Apply?
Ready to apply? Check if you meet these requirements:
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You need to be between 18 and 35 years old.
- You must currently be in Matric or have already completed Matric.
- You need to have achieved a minimum of Level 6 or 7 for Mathematics (Pure) and Physical Science in Matric.
- You must be able to demonstrate proven financial need.
- You should have a strong passion for aviation and a commitment to excellence, coupled with a dedicated work ethic and discipline.
Specifically for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering & Aeronautical Engineering applicants:
- You must be accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a recognised and accredited institution in South Africa for your chosen qualification.
- You need to have a strong academic record.
- You should be passionate about engineering and innovation.
What Does It Cover?
This bursary is super generous and aims to cover most of your essential study costs, so you can focus on excelling! Here’s what you can expect:
- For Cadet Pilot Training applicants: Full tuition fees, flight training, examination fees, and invaluable mentorship from experienced pilots and aviation professionals.
- For Aircraft Maintenance Engineering applicants: Full tuition fees, registration fees, essential tools, textbooks, learning materials, accommodation, a stipend, practical training, and mentorship with certified aviation engineers.
- For Aeronautical Engineering applicants: Full tuition fees, registration fees, textbooks, study materials, accommodation, and a stipend.
Please note: If you don’t hear back from SACAA after applying, consider your application unsuccessful. But don’t let that deter you from trying again next time or exploring other opportunities!
How to Apply?
Applying is straightforward! Just follow these steps:
- Head over to the official SACAA online application portal: SACAA Bursary Application 2026
- Make sure you submit clear, certified copies of all the required documents. If anything is missing, your application might not be considered:
- Your ID document (certified copy)
- Your latest Matric results (if currently in Matric) OR your Matric certificate (if you’ve completed Matric) – both certified copies.
- Your latest academic results (if currently studying) – must be on your institution’s letterhead.
- Proof of income for your parent or guardian (latest payslips if employed, or an affidavit if unemployed).
- A motivational letter explaining why you deserve this bursary and why you’re passionate about aviation.
The closing date for the SACAA Bursary is 30 September 2025 at 12 midnight. Don’t leave it until the last minute – get your application in before the deadline to ensure it’s considered!
