Who Can Apply?

The Schlumberger Foundation is looking for exceptional women who are ready to make a difference. Here’s what you need to know:

  • You must be a **female citizen from a developing or emerging economy** (where women are underrepresented in STEM fields). This includes South Africa! (Note: Dual citizenship with a developed country might make you ineligible).
  • You need to be preparing for a **PhD degree or Post-doctoral research in a STEM discipline**. Unfortunately, Master’s level studies are not funded by this program.
  • You must be **enrolled, admitted, or have already applied to a host university or research institute abroad**. If it’s a sandwich course, the final degree needs to be awarded by the host university abroad, or jointly.
  • Hold an **excellent academic record**. Show them what you’ve got!
  • Be committed to **returning to your home country or region** after completing your studies to contribute to its socio-economic development. This is a key part of the program’s vision.
  • Have a **proven track record of teaching experience** in your home country and demonstrate a strong commitment to returning to an academic/research position in STEM, or becoming a STEM entrepreneur, or contributing to the public sector using your scientific skills to influence policy.
  • Demonstrate **leadership skills, active community outreach**, and a history of encouraging other girls and women to pursue STEM fields.
