Ready to become a professional weather forecaster? This one-year, full-time internship is for graduates with an Honours Degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences. You’ll gain practical skills at the SAWS Head Office in Pretoria, with the programme starting in February 2026.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Honours Degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences.
  • Your degree must have included Mathematics (up to 2nd-year level) and Physical Sciences (up to 1st-year level).
  • Your qualification should comply or be near-compliant with WMO BIP-M (WMO-1083, 2023) standards.

This Bursary Covers:

  • Full tuition fees for the Postgraduate Certificate.
  • A monthly stipend to support your studies.

Application Must Include:

  • Certified copies of your Matric results and full academic record.
  • Certified copy of your SA ID document.
  • Certified copies of all relevant degrees (especially your Honours).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with a minimum of:
    • 50% or higher in Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy).
    • 50% or higher in Physical Science.
    • 50% or higher in English.
  • A valid driver’s licence is preferred, or you must be able to obtain one during the learnership period at your own cost.

This Learnership Covers:

  • A monthly stipend for the entire 12-month training duration.

  • Certified copy of your driver’s licence (if you have one).
