Who Can Apply?
Thinking this sounds like you? Here’s what you need to tick off to be eligible:
- Must be a proud South African citizen.
- Identifies as Black (African, Indian, or Coloured) as per the B-BBEE Act.
- Currently rocking Grades 8 to 11.
- An excellent achiever in either academics or sports – show them what you’ve got!
- Highly motivated and absolutely determined to succeed.
- Comes from a financially needy household, with a total gross combined income of no more than R45,000 per month.
For Academic Superstars:
- Minimum 65% in Mathematics.
- Minimum 65% in English.
- A fantastic 65% overall average on your latest academic report.
For Sports Legends:
- Must have earned national or provincial colours in one or more of the top 20 ranked sports in South Africa. Go, team!
- Must keep a solid minimum 60% academic average – brains and brawn!

- Your latest school reports: Term 4 of 2024, and Terms 1 & 2 of 2025.
- Parents’/guardians’ ID documents.
- Parents’/guardians’ proof of household income (think latest payslips if employed; an affidavit plus 3 months bank statements if unemployed; or proof of SASSA grant if applicable).
- Parents’/guardians’ proof of address.
