Polokwane Correctional Services warns of job scam

POLOKWANE – Polokwane Management Area Correctional Services cautions the public not to fall victim to a scammer demanding money from people promising them learnerships.

The scam involves the promise of jobs, however, victims are told to pay certain amounts of money prior to the programme. It is alleged that the scammer tells victims that the money is for transporting them to the college for training.

Sachiel Nemafhohoni, Polokwane Management Area communications manager indicated that they currently have no advertised posts and the department doesn’t demand any payments for job opportunities.

“Any advert which requires payment from members of the community is always a scam. We don’t charge applicants for any employment opportunities within the department. When posts or learnerships opportunities become available, DCS will advertise them through various reputable platforms including our website,” he reiterated.

Nemafhohoni further warned people to be aware that after advertising learnerships, there will be forms that can be collected for free at Correctional Services Offices.

After candidates are shortlisted, they will be contacted for interviews. There are no learnerships available for candidates who do not attend an interview.

If candidates receive a communication claiming they were selected without applying for a position or being called for an interview, they should recognise it as a scam and report it to the SAPS. For any enquiries, contact 015 295 2009.
