What Does It Cover?
This awesome Apprenticeship Programme is designed to give young, unemployed South Africans practical skills and real-world experience. It’s a fantastic 3-year journey where you’ll gain expertise in high-demand trades, leading to a nationally recognised Red Seal trade qualification!
You’ll get hands-on training and workplace experience in one of these four exciting fields:
- Refrigeration
- Welding
- Fitting and Turning
- Boilermaking

Who Can Apply?
Are you ready to dive in? Here’s what you need to qualify for the Phakamile Mabija Apprenticeship Bursary:
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You need to be between 18 and 35 years of age.
- You must meet the specific academic requirements for your chosen trade:
For Boilermaking:
- N2 Qualification with passed Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Drawings, and Boilermaking Trade Theory.
For Fitting and Turning:
- N2 Qualification with passed Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Drawings, and Fitting and Turning Trade Theory.
For Welding:
- NQF Level 4 with passed Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Drawings, and Platers Trade Theory.
For Refrigeration:
- N2 Qualification with passed Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Drawings, and Electrical Trade Theory.

- Your SARS registration number
- Proof of your banking details
