This isn’t a traditional bursary for study fees, but a fantastic 1-year paid internship designed to give you the practical, real-world experience you need to become a fully qualified Pharmacist.
Starting on 01 January 2026, you’ll be training under experienced Pharmacists, getting exposure to everything from medicine supply management to patient care. It’s the perfect launchpad for your career!
Who Can Apply?
Think this opportunity has your name on it? Here’s what you’ll need to be eligible:
- You must have a Degree in Pharmacy that’s accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- You need to be registered with SAPC as a Pharmacist Intern *before* your duty commences (so make sure you’re on track for this!).
- You should be accurate under pressure, professional, computer literate, and have awesome interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of relevant pharmacy legislation and National/Provincial Health policies will definitely give you an edge.
Special Note: The Department gives preference to Northern Cape bursary holders and current residents of the Northern Cape, so if that’s you, even better!
What Does It Cover?
While this isn’t a tuition bursary, it’s a paid internship that offers significant benefits:
- A competitive salary of R440 226 per annum (TCE package) – yes, you read that right! You’ll be earning while you learn.

Important heads-up: Accommodation is not provided, so you’ll need to make arrangements for yourself if you’re placed in Kimberley, Upington, or Colesberg.

Step 1: Get Your Documents Ready
You’ll need a completed new prescribed Z83 form (Application for Employment) and your latest CV. Remember, you do NOT need to attach certified copies of your qualifications, ID, or academic transcripts at this initial stage. These will only be requested from shortlisted candidates.
