What Does This Bursary Cover?

The amount of funding you receive depends on your household income:
- R0 – R350 000 per annum: up to R120 000
- R350 001 – R550 000 per annum: up to R100 000
- R550 001 – R800 000 per annum: up to R80 000
Heads up: This bursary does NOT cover any outstanding or pre-existing study debt, so keep that in mind.
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
To be eligible for this fantastic opportunity, you’ll need to meet these basic requirements:
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You need to be currently unemployed.
- You must officially reside within the Northern Cape province.
- Your age should be between 18 and 30 years old.
- You must either be in Matric (2025) or have already completed your Matric.
- You should be studying or planning to study towards an undergraduate or first degree in one of the approved critical skills fields.
- You must be registered/accepted at a public tertiary institution in South Africa.
- A strong academic record is a big plus!
- You should be financially needy (priority is given to academically deserving students who need financial assistance).
What Documents Do You Need?
Get ready to gather your documents! You’ll need to submit certified copies (not older than 6 months) of the following:
- Your South African ID document.
- Your Matric results (if you’re currently in Matric).
- Your Matric certificate (if you’ve completed Matric).
- Your latest academic results/transcripts (if you’re already studying).
- Proof of acceptance or provisional acceptance at a tertiary institution.
- Proof of registration at a tertiary institution (if applicable).
- A curriculum plan of your intended field of study.
- Proof of your parents’/guardians’/spouse’s income (e.g., latest payslips, bank statements, tax certificates, or SASSA slips if applicable).
- Any supporting affidavits or documents (e.g., for unemployed parents, single parents, foster care status, or if you are an orphan).
