Midvaal Local Municipality is looking for 12 passionate, dedicated young individuals to join their team as Fire Fighter Interns. You’ll get hands-on experience, vital skills, and a solid foundation for a rewarding career, all while receiving a monthly stipend!
Successful candidates will be appointed on a three-year contract, gaining invaluable practical experience and skill development in fire and rescue services. Plus, you’ll receive a monthly stipend of R8,786.58 (that’s R105,439.00 per year!) to support you as you learn and grow.
Who Can Apply?
Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Midvaal Fire Fighter Intern? Here’s what you need to bring to the table:
- A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or an equivalent qualification.
- You must have Firefighter 1 & 2, Hazmat Awareness, and Operations certifications (or something similar).
- First Aid Level 3 or a Basic Ambulance Course qualification is essential.
- A Code C Driver’s License is a must.
- You need to be medically and physically fit for operational duties – fighting fires is serious business!
- Being able to swim is also a requirement.
- No phobias like claustrophobia (fear of confined spaces) or acrophobia (fear of heights) – you’ll be in challenging situations.
- Any previous experience or knowledge in fire and rescue work will definitely give you an advantage.
- We’re looking for hardworking, self-disciplined, and reliable individuals.
- If you have at least 3 months of previous internship experience, that’s a bonus!
Special Note: Applicants currently residing in the Sedibeng Region will be given preference, so if you’re from there, this is an even bigger opportunity for you!
What Does It Cover?
This internship isn’t just about learning; it’s about getting paid to kickstart your career! Here’s what you can expect:
- Stipend: A fantastic stipend of R8,786.58 per month (that’s R105,439.00 per annum!).
- Contract Duration: You’ll secure a solid three-year contract, giving you ample time to gain comprehensive experience.
- Key Duties: As an intern, you’ll be hands-on! This includes responding to daily tasks, testing and checking vehicles and firefighting equipment, cleaning and maintaining gear, assisting in fire suppression, fighting various types of fires (grass, wildland, structural), participating in rescue operations, protecting property, performing control room duties, and carrying out other assigned tasks. You’ll truly be a part of the team!
