  • You must be a South African citizen. (International students might be considered if they qualify for a work visa/permit as per the Immigration Act).
  • You must currently be in Matric or have already completed Matric.
  • You must be studying, or planning to study full-time, towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the following fields for the 2026 academic year:
    • Analytical Chemistry / Chemical Engineering
    • Computer Engineering / Information Technology / Software Development
    • Finance / Accounting / Economics
    • Industrial Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
    • Mechatronics
    • Metallurgy
    • Metrology
    • Human Kinetics & Ergonomics
    • Supply Chain / Logistics
  • You must be studying or enrolled to study at a recognised and accredited University in South Africa.
  • If you’re currently in Matric, you need to have achieved a minimum overall average of 70%.
  • If you’re in Matric and applying for an Engineering stream, you need a minimum overall average of 65% in Mathematics and/or Physical Science.
  • If you’re currently studying at university, you need a minimum overall average of 65% in your most recent semester results.
  • You must NOT be an employee of the Mercedes-Benz South Africa Group of Companies.
  • Preference will be given to 1st and 2nd-year university students.
  • Preference will be given to students residing in the Eastern Cape region.
  • Students with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply!

  3. If you haven’t registered on the Mercedes-Benz platform before, click the blue “new user” button.
  4. Create your account by filling in your chosen username, password, and email address.
  5. You’ll then be directed to the bursary application page to complete all the necessary sections and attach your supporting documents.

Don’t forget to submit clear copies of the following supporting documents with your online application. This is compulsory, and incomplete applications might be disqualified, so double-check everything!

  • Your ID document (a certified copy)
  • Your Matric 3rd term report, if you’re currently in Matric (a certified copy)
  • Your Matric certificate, if you’ve already completed Matric (a certified copy)
  • Your most recent academic results, if you’re currently studying at university (a certified copy)

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within six weeks of the closing date. If you don’t hear back by then, please consider your application unsuccessful. Shortlisted candidates will be further assessed based on their final year academic results.
