Who Can Apply?

Think you’ve got what it takes to join the force? Here’s what you’ll need:

  • You must have a Grade 12 certificate or something equivalent.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Hold a valid Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission).
  • No criminal record – keeping our roads safe means you need to be squeaky clean!
  • No visible tattoos that might go against professional conduct (so, if you have them, make sure they’re not visible in uniform).
  • A medical certificate proving you’re fit enough for the strenuous physical activities involved.
  • Not declared unfit to possess a firearm (as per the Firearm Control Act, 2000).
  • Be prepared to work shifts – this means 24/7, including weekends and public holidays. Road safety never sleeps!
  • You must be a South African citizen with valid proof of ID.

Basic skills needed? You should be able to drive a motor vehicle and have good verbal and written communication skills – easy peasy, right?

What Does It Cover?
