Hey future climate hero! Are you passionate about tackling climate change and building a more resilient world, especially in Small Island Developing States (SIDS)? Then you absolutely need to check out the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme Climate Resilience Bursary for 2026! This isn’t just any funding opportunity; it’s a chance for professionals like you to gain crucial skills and make a real impact on climate adaptation.

The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme Climate Resilience Bursary, inspired by His Majesty King Charles III, is a fantastic, fully-funded one-year professional development programme designed for professionals working on the frontlines of climate adaptation in Commonwealth SIDS. This programme is all about strengthening your skills to practically address climate challenges, helping your home country become more resilient to the impacts of climate change.

It’s not a traditional university bursary for a degree, but rather an intensive, blended learning experience that focuses on practical application. The goal is to build long-term resilience, provide a collaborative platform for testing and implementing solutions, and develop a strong international network of climate adaptation experts, all while promoting inclusivity, gender equality, and engaging local and indigenous communities.

Who Can Apply?

Listen up, because this is important! This bursary is looking for mid-career professionals across any sector who are currently working in a climate adaptation practice-related role.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • You should have 5-15 years of direct or related experience in climate adaptation practice. It’s about your experience, not just your job title!
  • You need to have a planned commitment to 10-20 years of increasingly responsible roles within this field. They want to invest in your long-term potential!
  • You must be employed at an organisation registered in an eligible Commonwealth SIDS country, with a contract up to at least February 2027.

For our African friends, the eligible countries are: Mauritius and Seychelles. So, if you’re from these nations and fit the bill, this could be your moment!

What Does It Cover?

Get ready for some awesome benefits! If you’re selected, you’ll get a fully funded one-year blended training programme. This isn’t just classroom stuff; it’s guided by expert facilitators and mentors and includes:

  • An 18-week online training course (February-July 2026) with live workshops, self-study, and assignments. Modules cover Climate literacy, Inter-sectoral collaboration, Influencing policy, and Climate finance.
  • One intensive five-day in-person residential in Fiji (August 2026) – how cool is that?!
