• Education: You must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with both Mathematics and Science – these are non-negotiable!
• Health: You need to be medically fit and able to meet the demanding health standards required for working in a mine. Your appointment is subject to medical certification as per the Mine Health and Safety Act (29/1996), and you might be required to undergo a Dover assessment.
• Driving: A valid Code B/EB driver’s license is a must.
• Flexibility: Be prepared to be trained during various shifts – mining never stops!
• Tech Savvy: Basic computer literacy will definitely give you a head start.
• Coordination: Good foot-eye-hand-ear coordination is important for the practical aspects of the training.
