A leading insurance company is looking for an Underwriting Administrator to join their team in Roodepoort, Johannesburg. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to support both Personal and Commercial Lines within their short-term insurance division.

As an Underwriting Administrator, you will be crucial in assisting the underwriting team, managing insurance policies, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and providing essential administrative support to keep operations running smoothly. Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Administration: Support underwriters by processing new insurance policies, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations for both personal and commercial lines. Review applications to ensure all underwriting requirements are met and maintain up-to-date policy records.
  • Data Management: Accurately enter client and policy information into the underwriting system. Assist in collecting and compiling necessary documents for underwriting reviews and maintain detailed records of policy changes, client communication, and endorsements.
  • Client & Broker Communication: Communicate professionally with brokers, agents, and clients to request information, clarify details, and respond to inquiries about policies, coverage, and underwriting processes. Follow up on outstanding documentation and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all documentation adheres to company policies and regulatory requirements. Prepare and submit underwriting reports to management and monitor policy compliance with internal underwriting standards.

What You’ll Need

Qualifications:

  • Matric Certificate (essential)
  • BCom Degree
  • Regulatory exams and industry-specific certifications (e.g., FAIS, RE5)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of administrative experience in the short-term insurance sector.
  • Previous exposure to both personal and commercial lines of insurance.
  • Prior experience working specifically within an underwriting department.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of short-term insurance products, especially personal and commercial lines.
  • Excellent administrative skills with a keen focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in insurance management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally.
  • A collaborative team player.
