Your Role as a Systems Analyst (Insurance Focus)

As a Systems Analyst at Capitec, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our business and technology teams, with a specific focus on the insurance business unit. You will be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team instrumental in enabling accurate data flows, enhancing financial sub-ledgers, and supporting vital operational and regulatory reporting.

This position is all about understanding insurance-related data, gathering precise business and technical requirements, and working closely with our data engineering team to translate these into actionable solutions. Your expertise will be key to ensuring Capitec’s insurance data is accessible, accurate, and perfectly aligned with business needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing insurance data, systems, and processes to extract and interpret detailed requirements.
• Gathering, documenting, and validating functional and technical requirements from the insurance team.
• Providing clear, structured input to data engineers, enabling the development of accurate data pipelines and reporting solutions.
• Collaborating closely with stakeholders across insurance, data, product, and compliance functions.
• Supporting the delivery of end-to-end solutions, ensuring strict alignment with governance, data quality, and regulatory expectations.
• Contributing to system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and comprehensive solution validation.
• Assisting in resolving data-related issues by identifying root causes and recommending effective improvements.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a systems thinker with a strong analytical mindset and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. The successful candidate should be confident working in a data-rich environment and possess a deep understanding of the complexities of insurance processes and data structures.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• 3–5 years of proven experience in a Systems Analyst role.
• Prior experience working in or supporting the insurance industry is essential.
• Ability to write and interpret SQL queries independently.
• Strong understanding of systems analysis methodologies and business process modeling.
• Familiarity with data environments, system integration, and robust data validation practices.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with both technical and business teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a detail-oriented and structured approach to problem-solving.

Advantageous:

• Exposure to cloud-based solutions and tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms.
