The Sugar Industry Trust Fund for Education (SITFE) is offering bursaries for South African learners from sugarcane growing provinces to pursue tertiary education at public universities, universities of technology, or agricultural colleges. About the SITFE Bursary:

  • The program aims to increase access to quality education in agriculture, science, and engineering for high potential learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • SITFE provides a maximum of 41 full bursaries annually.

Who Can Apply:

  • Residents from KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga, the sugarcane growing provinces.
  • Applicants who have applied in the Faculties of Science, Engineering, or Agriculture at a tertiary institution.
  • Children of sugarcane farm workers are eligible to apply for any field of study at a tertiary institution.
  • Applicants must be South African citizens.

Selection Criteria: Applicants must:

  • Have applied for any field of study at a South African public university, university of technology, or agricultural college.
  • Preference will be given to first-year students.
