About the Role

UJ is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager (P6) to join its Human Capital Management (HCM) Business Partnering team. This pivotal role involves leading various projects and responsibilities, coordinating the day-to-day functions of the HCM BP Team, and acting as a strategic advisor to senior leadership.

You will be instrumental in developing and implementing human capital strategies that align with the institution’s objectives, fostering employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all functions and processes within the HCM Business Partnering team.
  • Develop and implement human capital strategies and programmes aligned with institutional objectives.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on talent management, succession planning, performance management, and employee development.
  • Partner with business leaders to assess and address institutional needs, driving initiatives like workforce planning, organisational design, and change management.
  • Foster a culture of employee engagement and inclusion through effective HR policies and programmes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
  • Identify and report HCM-related risks, developing strategies to minimise them.
  • Drive the development and execution of learning and development programmes.
  • Provide guidance and support in employee relations, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Manage the interface between HCM sub-divisions, Payroll, and Budget Controller.
  • Monitor and analyse HCM metrics and trends for continuous improvement.
  • Informally mentor and coach team members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in human capital management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification: Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8) in Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology.
  • Experience:
    • At least 8 years of experience as an HR Generalist.
    • Of which, 4 years must be in an advisory role.
    • At least 3 years of experience as a team leader within your 8 years of HR experience.
