Senior Lecturer_ Dept of Social Work & Social Development

The Department of Social Work & Social Development at the University of Cape Town is seeking a qualified Senior Lecturer to join our Criminal Justice Social Work Postgraduate Programme.

Requirements:

• Registered as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SASSCP)
• PhD in Social Work with a focus on correctional/prison social work, or probation work and/or forensic social work
• Demonstrable and relevant experience in teaching and research at an accredited institution of higher learning
• Experience in teaching and supervision of Postgraduate students
• Evidence of scholarship and social responsiveness contribution in applied social work in the fields of criminal justice, violence and crime
• Publication(s) in Centre of Higher Education (CHE) accredited peer reviewed journals

Responsibilities:

• Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Convening undergraduate and postgraduate courses and programmes
• Contributing to departmental, faculty and university administration
• Participating in departmental Research Ethics and Masters/PhD by Research Committees
• Ongoing scholarship and social responsiveness work in their field of expertise
