Senior Lecturer (Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment: Department of Civil Engineering Technology)

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is seeking a Senior Lecturer for the Department of Civil Engineering Technology. UJ is a vibrant institution guided by its UJ Strategy2035, focusing on Societal Impact, Global Footprint, and Technology for the Future.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will teach and develop undergraduate and postgraduate modules, conduct research, and participate in academic administration. The Department is part of the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and developing undergraduate and postgraduate modules in structural engineering
  • Conducting research in structural engineering
  • Supervising postgraduate students
  • Sourcing research funding for the SGM research group
  • Contributing to academic and departmental administration

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng or BSc degree in civil engineering, recognised by ECSA
  • Doctorate degree in a relevant engineering field or MEng/MSc/MPhil with5+ years of industry experience
  • Extensive industry experience in leading the design and construction of large civil structures
  • Research experience demonstrated by scholarly publications and/or postgraduate supervision
  • Excellent academic record in civil engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
