Senior Financial Accountant
Are you a seasoned Financial Accountant looking for a high-impact role within a prestigious, globally-present family office? A dynamic Senior Financial Accountant is needed to join their collaborative team in Johannesburg. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including managing general ledger entries, reconciliations, journal postings, and intercompany loan accounts across multiple entities.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, managing invoicing, debt collection, supplier account reconciliation, and processing national and international payments.
- Provide property management support, handling invoice processing, client/tenant communication, and administrative duties.
- Regularly reconcile cash books and bank accounts, manage credit card transactions, petty cash balances, and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports (quarterly/annual), assist with stakeholder reporting and board pack compilation, and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Handle statutory submissions (e.g., VAT returns, EMP201 declarations) ensuring full compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Organise and maintain digital filing systems using SharePoint to ensure electronic documentation and support automation for a paperless environment.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external auditors during audits or reviews, and liaise with banking or insurance institutions as required.
What You’ll Need (Qualifications & Experience):
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant financial field.
- Additional Certifications in Bookkeeping or Accounting are a strong advantage.
- 8 – 10 years of experience in a finance-related role, ideally within the financial services industry.
- Proven expertise in accounting and financial reporting, especially in multi-entity environments.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with digital document management systems (e.g., SharePoint).
- Skilled in providing audit support and liaising with regulatory bodies.
