The Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment prides itself in its vibrant, dynamic and diverse engineering community of scholars who are passionate about enhancing the learning experience of students, enhancing the research profile of the Faculty and enhancing the academic, social and economic impact of the Faculty’s teaching and research programmes.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to teach, perform research, supervise students and participate in services required by the Department.

  • Lecturing, coordinating, assessing and tutoring undergraduate (Departmental/service) modules.
  • Supervision of Honours, Masters, and Doctoral students.
  • Research and publish in any field that articulates well with the existing research interests of the department.
  • Contributing to departmental outreach and community engagement programmes.

Minimum Requirements

The minimum requirements for Professor and Associate Professor are outlined below:

Professor

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (preferred, due to ECSA requirement) or a closely related (NQF10 or equivalent);
  • A minimum of ten years teaching experience at a tertiary institution
  • Evidence of strong research outputs as demonstrated by publications in international academic journals

Associate Professor

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (preferred, due to ECSA requirement) or a closely related (NQF10 or equivalent);
  • A minimum of seven years teaching experience at a tertiary institution
  • Evidence of strong research outputs as demonstrated by publications in international academic journals
