Position Summary

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is seeking an accomplished academic and Visual Artist to join the Visual Arts Department in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA).

Job Description

The successful candidate will take primary responsibility as a Module Leader in the teaching of Printmaking and bring expertise in at least one other area of the undergraduate programme. The role involves senior leadership, academic leadership, teaching, mentoring, research, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership in the strategic development and growth of Visual Art programmes.
• Deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Mentor and supervise students, Tutors, Research Fellows, postgraduate candidates, and junior staff.
• Undertake research and/or creative practice that advances the discipline.
• Build and maintain industry and community networks.

Minimum Requirements

• A Doctorate in Visual Art or a cognate discipline.
• Demonstrated academic leadership experience.
• A strong track record in teaching and research.
