The remuneration package is competitive and varies by grade:
- Grade 1: R1,341,855 per annum
- Grade 2: R1,531,032 per annum
- Grade 3: R1,773,222 per annum
Key Requirements
To be considered for this vital role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: MBChB & MMed degree OR a relevant postgraduate qualification in Anaesthesiology.
- Registration: Current registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist in Anaesthesiology.
- Experience (based on Grade):
- Grade 1: No experience required after HPCSA registration as a Medical Specialist.
- Grade 2: Minimum 5 years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after HPCSA registration.
- Grade 3: Minimum 10 years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after HPCSA registration.
- Availability: Willingness to participate in after-hours specialist cover and provide 24-hour clinical service.
- Expertise: Strong record in clinical governance, clinical expertise, and research.
- Teaching & Supervision: Experience in supervision, training, and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Publications: A publication record will be a distinct advantage.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, leadership, administrative, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
As a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesiology, your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring effective and efficient clinical service delivery within the central hospital and at other cluster hospitals.
- Supporting, teaching, and examining pre-graduate and post-graduate students in relevant aspects of the Clinical Unit.
- Initiating and participating in research activities and publications, aligned with the School of Medicine plans.
- Managing and performing required administrative and academic duties in support of and coordinated with the Head of Department.
