Mechanical Technician (Officer- post level 10/11): University Estates (Job ID 6271) – (1955)

The University of the Free State is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join its University Estates team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting workmanship and mechanical equipment, managing preventive maintenance contracts, and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect workmanship and all mechanical equipment
• Manage daily work task operations and quality control on repairs and new mechanical installations
• Assist with signing off on preventive planned maintenance job cards
• Request allocations to mechanical contractors and obtain quotations as per pre-determined specifications
• Manage various mechanical contracts, including Building Management System (BMS) and Elevator Preventive Service contract

Inherent Job Requirements

• N6 Engineering qualification on NQF Level 5
• Minimum of two (2) years’ post-qualification relevant experience as a technician
• Valid driver’s license code 8 or 10
