Purpose of the Role

As the Manager: Operations Collections, you will be a strategic leader, making a significant impact within a fast-paced banking environment. You will manage large collections teams, engage with executive stakeholders, and drive performance across the division. This role requires strategic vision and the ability to operate in a data-driven, omnichannel context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage large collections teams (100+ members), driving overall divisional performance.
  • Engage directly and build strong professional relationships with executive stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement innovative omnichannel strategies for collections and recoveries.
  • Influence and shape the hiring strategy to build future workforce capabilities.
  • Provide comprehensive analytical insights and support to the Head of Department.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in credit granting, collections, and banking payments.
  • Expertise in contact centre operations and AWS (Amazon Web Services), comfortable with a tech-driven approach to business development and innovation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large teams, particularly during periods of high arrears, including managing remote teams effectively.
  • A Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree or a similar relevant qualification.
  • Strong confidence, assertiveness, and proven leadership abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills and a proven track record of engaging with executive stakeholders.
  • Must be based in Cape Town or willing to relocate to the area.

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • A relevant degree in Business Management.
