About the Role

As the Manager: Data and Analytics (AI and Data Science), you will be at the forefront of Capitec Bank’s advanced analytics journey. You will lead the charge in defining and implementing our AI strategy, driving innovation, and enabling critical data-driven decisions across the organisation. This is a key leadership role where you will inspire and mentor a team of talented data scientists to deliver cutting-edge AI/ML solutions that align directly with our business goals.

Your responsibilities will include identifying new AI-driven opportunities, overseeing the development and deployment of sophisticated models, and ensuring all solutions meet ethical and compliance standards. You’ll collaborate closely with various stakeholders to position Capitec as a leader in using AI for business innovation and growth, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence within your team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Capitec Bank’s AI and advanced analytics initiatives.
• Define and implement a forward-thinking AI strategy.
• Mentor and foster a high-performing team of data scientists.
• Oversee the development and deployment of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions.
• Identify new AI-driven business opportunities.
• Ensure AI/ML solutions adhere to ethical and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive data-driven decision-making.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.

What You’ll Need

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Experience: Over 5 years in AI/ML model development and deployment, with at least 2 years in a management or team lead role within an analytical team.
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage senior and executive-level stakeholders and influence decision-making.
• Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with AI frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
  • Experience integrating AI models into applications and services.
  • Knowledge of big data frameworks such as Hadoop and Kafka.
  • Experience with Git or GitHub.
• Education: An Honours Degree or higher.

Bonus Points if you have:

• AWS experience.
