About the Role

As the Manager: Business Risk Support, you will be crucial in ensuring the effectiveness of Capitec’s risk controls and minimizing legal risks within the Collections and Recoveries departments. Your work will directly contribute to the bank’s operational integrity and compliance.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Taking full ownership for planning and managing the Operational Risk Support function daily.
  • Developing and implementing a robust risk control plan, ensuring that Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) are conducted, actions are followed up, and commitments from internal audits and compliance checks are adhered to.
  • Providing essential support to the wider Collections and Recoveries Department for complex escalations and critical issues.
  • Effectively managing and guiding the portfolio related to Allegations of Reckless Lending (ARL).

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in risk management and leadership. Ideal applicants will meet the following experience requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 years of working experience in professional, service-oriented, or risk-focused environments.
  • At least 4 years of management or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with regulators and various industry bodies.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and adeptly manage sensitive client situations.
  • Prior experience in an audit, operational risk, or debt management environment.
  • While not strictly required, banking experience, particularly with credit risk knowledge, will be a significant advantage.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law or Commerce.
  • A Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational or equivalent.

Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge related to professional service, comprehensive risk management practices, regulatory engagement, and effective complex problem-solving strategies, as outlined in the experience section.
