In this critical role, you will lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team covering Mechanical, Electrical & Instruments, Civils, Tankage, and Maintenance Services. Your primary focus will be ensuring the reliability and availability of terminal assets through effective maintenance strategies and strong team collaboration. Reporting to the General Manager, you will shape the department’s vision, drive continuous improvement, and champion a culture of safety and operational excellence. About the Role
As the Maintenance Manager, you will be instrumental in guiding the future direction of the Maintenance organisation. Your daily tasks will involve setting strategic priorities for your multidisciplinary team, ensuring all assets meet stringent reliability targets, and coordinating complex outage management activities. You’ll oversee tankage plan development and lead improvement-driven maintenance projects. A key part of your role will be developing staff capabilities, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment, and managing vendor relationships. Your commitment to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) best practices will be essential in delivering safe and efficient outcomes aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the vision for the maintenance team and develop strategies to achieve organisational goals.
- Oversee the maintenance of all assets through structured plans for routine work and scheduled outages.
- Develop and implement comprehensive tankage maintenance plans.
- Lead the execution of maintenance projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
- Supervise routine and programme-based maintenance across mechanical, electrical, instrument, civil, and tankage disciplines.
- Manage contracts with vendors, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Identify and implement reliability improvement programmes and projects.
- Foster the professional development of maintenance staff.
- Provide strong HSSE leadership as a Section 16.2 Appointee, managing associated risks.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to achieve shared business objectives.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience from the petrochemical or heavy industry sectors, particularly in managing multidisciplinary teams. You should possess deep technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, instrument, and civil engineering principles, along with proven contract management expertise.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or other relevant discipline).
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the petrochemical or heavy industry sector, with at least 6 years in a managerial role leading diverse engineering teams.
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of maintenance processes, including tankage maintenance and outage management. In-depth understanding of reliability processes and techniques.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to supervise senior professionals, foster mutual respect, and provide visible HSSE leadership (including Section 16.2 Appointee experience).
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, proven track record in contractor management, pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and accident investigation expertise.
