Job Description
The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences at the University of the Western Cape is seeking a Lecturer for the Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating academic responsibilities within the ECP.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
- Facilitate theory and clinical learning activities at undergraduate level in the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program.
- Conduct research and participate in research programmes in the Faculty.
- Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
- Provide academic leadership and administration within the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program.
- Collaborate with the Bachelors of Nursing programme team to ensure alignment with and integration of the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program in the Bachelors of Nursing programme.
- Undertake curriculum review and development in the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program.
- Participate in community engagement and outreach within the Department.
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Master’s in Nursing or a related Health discipline.
- Experience in ECP teaching and/or clinical supervision.
- Evidence of engagement with research.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse/Midwife/Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Nurse Educator.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as Assessor and Moderator.
Added Advantages
The ideal candidate should be a highly-motivated person progressing or registered for a PhD in Nursing. Additional qualifications in a clinical speciality and/or Health Services Management are also desirable.
