

Lecturer: Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) – (2143)
The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is seeking a dedicated Lecturer for its Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) within the School of Nursing. This is a full-time, permanent position located at the Bellville Medical Campus in the Western Cape.
The ECP is designed to enhance success and graduation rates for students from disadvantaged educational backgrounds who meet minimum entry requirements but not the standard admission criteria for the four-year Bachelor of Nursing programme. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for coordinating all academic activities within this crucial programme.
About the Role: Key Responsibilities
As the Lecturer for the Extended Curriculum Programme, your core responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating both theoretical and clinical learning activities for undergraduate students enrolled in the Nursing ECP.
- Conducting and actively participating in research programmes within the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences.
- Providing supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Offering academic leadership and managing administrative tasks specific to the Nursing ECP.
- Collaborating effectively with the Bachelor of Nursing programme team to ensure seamless alignment and integration of the ECP.
- Undertaking curriculum review and development initiatives for the Nursing ECP.
- Participating in community engagement and outreach activities within the Department.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this vital role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A Master’s degree in Nursing or a related Health discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in ECP teaching and/or clinical supervision.
- Evidence of engagement with research activities.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse/Midwife/Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Assessor and Moderator.
Added Advantages
Candidates with the following qualifications or experience will have a distinct advantage:
- A highly-motivated individual who is currently progressing towards or already registered for a PhD in Nursing.
- Previous experience in clinical supervision.
- An additional qualification in a clinical speciality and/or Health Services Management.
