Lecturer: Audiology

The University of Cape Town (UCT) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lecturer in Audiology for a permanent, full-time role within the Division of Communication Sciences & Disorders, part of the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Based in Cape Town, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening and developing the Audiology programme through academic leadership, cutting-edge research, and comprehensive education. Your contributions to departmental activities will also be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver academic and clinical teaching for undergraduate courses within the Audiology programme.
  • Supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  • Develop and maintain your own research programme, ensuring it aligns with teaching and clinical practice.
  • Undertake leadership, administrative, and management duties at both Divisional and Departmental levels.
  • Contribute to socially responsive activities that align with the university’s vision and mission.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Master’s qualification in Audiology.
  • At least two years of clinical experience in Audiology.
  • Proven experience in teaching or practical application of paediatric and/or adult audiological rehabilitation.
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Audiologist or an Audiologist and Speech Language Therapist.
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Advantageous Skills & Qualifications

  • A PhD qualification or a PhD thesis already submitted for examination.
  • Experience in facilitating the education of university students.
  • A strong publication record.
  • Experience with postgraduate research supervision.

Salary & Benefits

The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is R941 184.
