About the Role

UWC is looking for a passionate and experienced Lecturer to join the School of Nursing. This is a permanent, full-time position that is part of a Joint Establishment, meaning you will have responsibilities within both the University and the Provincial Health Department. This unique role combines academic duties with a contribution to clinical service delivery, in line with our collaborative agreement with the Provincial Health Department.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lecturer, your main duties will include:

  • Coordinating activities for both undergraduate and clinical nursing programmes.
  • Supervising Master’s level research, particularly if you hold a PhD.
  • Delivering engaging teaching and learning experiences to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
  • Actively participating in ongoing research programmes.
  • Developing and nurturing partnerships with industry and other academic institutions.
  • Engaging in community outreach initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this important role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A Master’s degree in Nursing or a related Health discipline.
  • Proven experience in teaching at a tertiary level.
  • Evidence of your publication output (e.g., journal articles, conference papers).
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse.
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator.

Important Note: Submission of copies of your SANC registrations for both a Professional Nurse/Midwife/Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse AND a Nurse Educator is mandatory for your application.

Added Advantages (What Will Make You Stand Out)

Candidates with the following will have an advantage:

  • Being a highly motivated individual currently pursuing or already registered for a PhD in Nursing.
  • Experience in clinical supervision.
  • An additional qualification in a clinical speciality and/or Health Services Management.
