GIS Technologist

Job Summary

The Department of Social Development is seeking a GIS Technologist to join their team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• Bachelor of Science (NQF6/7) in Geography/Geomatics or Environmental Sciences
• A valid driver’s license
• 3 years of experience as a GISc Technologist
• Registration with PLATO as a GISc Technologist

Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Collecting and capturing data from various formats and sources
• Maintaining GISc unit effectiveness
• Governance: allocating, controlling, monitoring, and reporting on resources
• Financial Management: managing the operational capital project portfolio
• GIS Implementation: undertaking system audits, requirement analysis, and cost-benefit analysis
• Conducting research and advising on new GIS technologies
