FINANCIAL CLERK

About the Role
As a Financial Clerk, you will play a crucial role in managing patient accounts and ensuring the financial integrity of the hospital’s operations. You will be responsible for a range of tasks, from invoicing and debt collection to account reconciliation, working with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise patient invoices accurately, applying relevant codes (ICD10) and handling specific cases like IOD (Injury on Duty), RAF (Road Accident Fund), Defence, SAPS (South African Police Service), and Correctional Services accounts.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding patient debts.
- Manage the process of writing off long-outstanding, untraceable debts.
- Submit patient accounts to various stakeholders as required.
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Grade 12 Certificate AND a National Diploma in Finance.
- Good knowledge of Accounting principles and basic accounting systems (BAS).
- Experience with SAP-HIS is a strong advantage.
- Understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
- Computer literacy, especially strong spreadsheet skills (Excel) and numeracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client liaison and telephone etiquette.
- Proven customer service skills.
Salary & Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive salary of R228,321 per annum, plus additional benefits.
