Financial Accountant (1 year FTC)

Are you a recently qualified Financial Accountant eager to launch your career? Capitec Bank is looking for a dedicated Financial Accountant for a 1-year fixed-term contract in Sandton. This role is perfect for a meticulous professional ready to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and contribute to robust financial reporting.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role by:

• Ensuring all financial accounting transactions are recorded effectively and efficiently within the financial results.
• Reviewing and analysing financial results to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Performing and reviewing Balance Sheet reconciliations to ensure all Balance Sheet values are fully substantiated.
• Providing expert guidance, technical know-how, and oversight in financial accounting matters to other team members.

What We’re Looking For (Requirements)

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Completed SAICA / SAIPA Articles.
• 0 to 2 years of post-articles working experience in Financial Accounting. This should include responsibility for executing a wide range of accounting functions and providing financial advisory support to the business.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Financial Accounting focus).
• A clear criminal and credit record is essential for this role.

Ideal Qualifications & Experience:

• An Honours Degree in Accounting (Financial Accounting focus).
• Familiarity with the SAP system (accounting modules).
• Previous experience at Capitec Bank would be a distinct advantage.

Essential Knowledge & Skills

Key Knowledge Areas:

• In-depth understanding of IFRS, GAAP, and core accounting principles.
• Proficiency in computerised accounting systems and principles.
• Solid knowledge of South African Tax, specifically VAT.
• Experience in managing accounts and performing financial analysis on large volumes of data efficiently, with strong interpretation skills.
• Excellent business communication skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ideal: Knowledge of Capitec Bank’s operations and SAP Accounting System.
