Director: Treasury Services

About the Role

As Director: Treasury Services, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and serve as a strategic business partner across the university. Your main responsibility will be to manage UCT’s treasury functions, including overseeing the Joint Investment Committee and Foundation. This involves managing investment strategies with external experts and directing the banking and investment services for all UCT departments and faculties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all treasury functions.
  • Oversee and manage daily treasury and banking operations.
  • Manage UCT’s investment portfolios, working with external service providers and actuaries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administer and manage all bank accounts.
  • Lead and develop the Treasury Services team.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this vital role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of recent and relevant experience in Treasury or Financial Services.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in a mid to senior management position, with strategic operational and decision-making responsibilities.
  • Be proficient in accounting and financial management practices.
  • Be skilled in accounting (e.g., SAP/ERP) systems and general IT.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including strategic thinking, diplomacy, and a collaborative approach.
  • Have the ability to effectively engage and manage various stakeholders.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Be capable of working independently and as part of a team to achieve objectives.
  • Show experience in people, resource, and operational management.
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion in all work assignments.
  • Be able to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines effectively.

Salary

The annual cost of employment, including benefits, ranges from R1,467,541 to R1,726,482.
