The University of the Free State is seeking a Director: Innovation and Contracts to lead the Technology Transfer Office and Business Incubator.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a results-driven strategic vision for innovation, commercialisation, and incubation aligned with institutional objectives and national innovation priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a results-driven strategic vision for innovation, commercialisation, and incubation.
• Lead the Technology Transfer Office, ensuring effective Intellectual Property management, licensing, and commercialisation strategies.
• Oversee the commercialisation of research outputs, ensuring revenue-generating opportunities.
• Foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, integrating research-based ventures into the economic ecosystem.

Requirements

A Professional Bachelor’s degree/ Honours degree/ Postgraduate Diploma on NQF Level8, Chartered Accountant (SA), and a minimum of five years’ experience in senior financial and innovation management.
