Job Overview
The Department of Co-Operative Governance and Traditional Affairs is seeking a Director: Community Development to lead the implementation of the Community Development Worker (CDW) programme in Gauteng.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Matric plus NQF level7/ bachelor’s degree in development work, social sciences, or a relevant qualification
- 5 years’ experience at a middle/senior managerial level in the Public Service
- Competencies in financial management, knowledge of Community Development work, relevant legislation & policies, programme management, integrated approach to service delivery, computer literacy, planning, team development, decision making, presentation, leadership, Community Development, networking, communication, organizing, controlling, research
- A valid driver’s license
Duties
The Director: Community Development will be responsible for:
- Customizing the CDW national Policy Framework to an Implementation Plan for CDWP
- Managing the establishment of Provincial and District Forums for co-ordination and implementation of CDWP
- Providing functional linkages between national offices (DCOG & DPSA) and Provincial stakeholders
- Managing developmental aspects of CDWP in accordance with policy framework and standard guidelines
- Providing guidance and advisory services to Municipalities for CDWP implementation
