Key Responsibilities

As the Deputy Director, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting assessments for NPO accreditation and aligning national infrastructure strategies for provincial application.
  • Managing the development and regular updating of all infrastructure policies, norms, and standards in line with nationally prescribed guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance projects comply with National Treasury Instructions and other relevant policies and standards.
  • Developing comprehensive maintenance priority lists and associated cost estimates.
  • Managing procurement costs for all NPO maintenance projects within the Gauteng IDMS control framework.
  • Overseeing contracts, ensuring strict adherence to SANS, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Regulations, and Construction Regulations.
  • Designing and updating OHS tools specifically for monitoring NPO facilities.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress through monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Maintaining team discipline, managing performance, and fostering the development of employees under your supervision.

Requirements

To be considered for this Deputy Director position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A 3-year tertiary qualification in the Built Environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ middle management experience in Public-Sector portfolio management.
  • Possession of a valid South African Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrated honesty, integrity, keen attention to detail, and a strong technical orientation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the PFMA (Public Finance Management Act), DoRA (Division of Revenue Act), Treasury regulations, national building standards, and Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
  • Essential skills include: Building management, Strategic management, and Project management.

Package & Benefits

This position offers an attractive all-inclusive package of R 896,436 per annum.
