The Department of Health, Gauteng, in a joint appointment with Wits University, is looking for skilled and dedicated Dental Specialists to join the Oral Medicine and Periodontology Directorate at the Wits Oral Health Centre. Your Key Responsibilities
As a Dental Specialist, you will be crucial in advancing oral health education and services. Your duties will include:
- Implementing, monitoring, and evaluating academic dental services within the Oral Health platform.
- Performing supervisory and administrative roles in the teaching and training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Ensuring quality assurance for teaching, training, and clinical governance.
- Conducting your own research and supervising research projects.
- Participating in other activities as directed by the Head of Department.
What You Need to Qualify
We are looking for candidates who meet the following essential requirements:
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dental Specialist in the relevant discipline (Oral Medicine and Periodontology).
- Current registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Specialist.
- Appropriate experience as a Specialist in the relevant discipline after registration with the HPCSA.
- Proven experience in the teaching and training of undergraduate students.
- Experience in teaching and training postgraduates after qualifying as a specialist will be a significant advantage.
