Are you an experienced Dental Specialist looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity? The Gauteng Department of Health, in collaboration with Wits University, is seeking a dedicated Dental Specialist to join the team at Wits Oral Health Centre. This is a joint appointment focused on academic dental services, teaching, and clinical governance.

What You’ll Need (Requirements)

To be considered for this vital role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Specialist in your relevant discipline.
  • Current registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Specialist in the relevant discipline.
  • Appropriate experience as a Specialist in the relevant discipline after registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and training undergraduate students.
  • Experience in teaching and training postgraduate students after qualifying as a specialist will be a significant advantage.

Your Responsibilities (Duties)

As a Dental Specialist, your duties will include:

  • Implementing, monitoring, and evaluating academic dental services within the Oral Health platform.
  • Taking on a supervisory and administrative role for the teaching and training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Ensuring quality assurance in teaching, training, and clinical governance.
  • Conducting your own research and supervising research projects.
  • Participating in other activities as directed by the Head of Department.
