About the Role: Data Scientist I

As a Data Scientist I within Capitec’s Business Banking division, your primary purpose will be to advance Capitec’s AI strategy. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the bank remains competitive in a rapidly evolving landscape where data science is a key strategic differentiator. This role is focused on the exciting areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), leveraging your solid, foundational knowledge of state-of-the-art data science principles and techniques, including deep learning and the underlying theories.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing predictive models and intelligent algorithms to gain deeper insights into business performance drivers, enabling more effective decision-making.
• Developing solutions and experimental designs for model development.
• Deploying predictive modeling techniques, utilizing source control systems like Git or Bitbucket to ensure robust and scalable solutions.

Who We Are Looking For (Requirements)

Our ideal candidate will have:

• 1-3+ years of experience in any Data Science role.
• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Familiarity with modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow).
• Experience with GitHub or Git for version control.

Ideal Skills (Bonus Points)

• Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services).
• Basic knowledge of SQL.
