Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Data Architect, you will be instrumental in defining and supporting the technology solutions for Capitec Bank’s Data and Analytics (D&A) environment. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Defining the technology solution for the Data and Analytics (D&A) environment, ensuring it meets both current and future technology needs.
  • Supporting and overseeing the development of detailed technical specifications from business requirements, leveraging your expertise in D&A, Back-End Systems, and data sources.
  • Managing and providing mentorship and guidance to a small team of data engineers who contribute to our analytical platform.
  • Collaborating closely with engineers on technical deliverables and ensuring successful implementation.

What You’ll Need (Minimum Requirements)

Experience

  • At least 4 years of experience implementing Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Visualisation solutions, along with supporting architecture.
  • Experience with the product development life cycle.
  • In-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of BI environments, solutions, and end-to-end BI architecture and technologies.
  • Expertise in BI development (reports, dashboards, data visualisation).
  • A good understanding of design and user experience principles.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Diploma in Information Technology – Systems Engineering.
  • Ideal or Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems.

Knowledge

Minimum, you must have detailed knowledge of:

  • Data Warehouse Development Life Cycle.
  • Dimensional modelling.
  • Financial systems and procedures.
  • UML or equivalent modelling language.
  • Technical Test Plan Design.
  • IT systems development processes.
  • Application development.
  • Standards and governance.

Ideally, you will also have detailed knowledge of:

  • Banking systems environment.
  • Banking business model.
  • Agile development life cycle.
  • Best practices for Quality Assurance (QA).
